Wedding Season

Well it's wedding season! And also first-birthday-party-season. Ha. Last night we went to the wedding reception of a guy Justin grew up with (we skipped the Catholic/Filipino wedding ceremonies...they stated at the peak of nap time...)

Esella had a great time, once she warmed up. This was her second wedding but her first she was just 8 months old so she didn't do much! Unfortunately neither of the kids napped well yesterday...but things turned out ok. The bride was Filipino and they had some pretty cool Filipino dancers perform...Esella really seemed to like them (she sat with her Grand B and watched them and clapped along to the music). And of course she enjoyed the cake...

And of course Dancing...

This wedding had some cool things going on...they had a candy bar..i.e. a whole bunch of different candies you could bag up and take with you (they were the wedding favors). Esella liked this as well ;) Actually, everyone did, there was always a HUGE line for the candy!

But the coolest thing? They had a photo booth. Yes, the kind that takes your picture and spits them out 2 minutes later. AND they had a whole bunch of fun things you could wear in your pictures....silly hats and glasses. Then you could cut some of them out and make them a scrap book page where you can write your well wishes.

Seriously AWESOME.

Yes, I took some pictures with my fancy camera but THESE pictures are by far, the BEST we took that night!

Awesome, huh???

Well that is all for now...We are headed to yet another first birthday party later today in the City...and I have to get a few things done first :) Hope you are all having a GREAT weekend!

Is it July or October??

I don't know about places in the world but let me tell you, in the Bay Area, CA it sure doesn't feel like July! In fact....it rained the last two nights and today I am wearing jeans and a sweater for the third day in a row. INSANE.

Then to add to my confusion in regards to the season we were in Hallmark today and wouldn't you know it...they had their Christmas ornaments out.

Yes, you read that correctly. Christmas ornaments.

In July.

SIGH.

Anyway, beyond the crazy weather life has been good. Last week Esella had her Rheumy appt. We wew honestly expecting to get the news that we would be moving to injections however her doctors did see a little improvement in the swelling in her fingers. SInce it can take up to 12 weeks for the full effects of the medication and it had only been 8 weeks, they recommending continuing giving her the Methotrexate orally until our next appt on August 25th. Then we will see how her finger swelling is and go from there.

The docs also wanted to do x-rays on her hands to check for bone issues and also to have baseline images. We told her we were going to take pictures of her hands...she was ok with it until we walked in the room! She freaked out a little, I think mostly because the room was dark. However the x ray tech and his assistant were really awesome and E calmed down and did a GREAT job. I never got a call from her docs so I assume her hands looked good. They said if she had bone issues (I believe she said break downs?) we would have to move to a different medication...but they didn't expect it given the time frame of her illness.

Esella has been going to school now for two weeks and she seems to like it. She had a hard time today saying goodbye...because daddy was there for the first time. She was crying as we left and she ended up getting a good snuggle from Miss Urma. We were told she had a great day once she calmed down tho! She brought home her first art project...painted paper pigs! And today brought home more...I am LOVING it and plan on looking for some creative ways to display her work in the house!

For those who are wondering...baby Kyle is doing great! He is growing and growing and still has that head of hair! Here he is Tuesday...

Everett is eating solids now daily...he has now had avocado, peas, bananas and sweet potatoes. He does really well eating but really wants to hold the spoon and throws quite a fit when you take it from him! So now he gets his own spoon to hold...

Look at that smirk...

And Ainsley is happy to have another tiny eater in the house...

and as you can see...Ev is already an expert in feeding his doggy

One of E at dinner time...just for fun...

And when we took Everett for his 6 month well check last week...I told the doc he wasn't rolling...it isn't a big deal because he has been sitting up since 4 1/2 months and everything else is cool...apparently rolling is not a true physical milestone. Well I guess Everett didn't like that I told her that because he went ahead and decided to master rolling in like a day.

But unfortunately....

It's hard when you get stuck under the table!!

Esella went to rescue him...or something like that ;)

Well that is about it...busy weekend ahead full of weddings and birthday parties!

And sending out all my love, thoughts and prayers to Chelsea today...my dear friend who had a baby boy, Travis, at just 23 weeks 2 days gestation, is now pregnant again and in the hospital...her body is contracting and dilating and she is only ay 26 weeks today. We need that baby to BAKE!!! Love you Chelsea!! Here are a couple of my favorite pics of Travis and E from September of last year...

Until next time....

Bonus Post: Fourth of July and First day of School!

We had a GREAT Fourth! Our good friends Somer and Po came over and we paraded and BBQ'd with our awesome neighbors. There was good food, good company, fireworks and glowing bracelets and necklaces. There was wine and beer and tired toddlers. Overall a GREAT evening!

Ev waiting for the parade to start

Esella on her decorated bike parading!

Our neighborhood parade!

Esella with her Uncle Po...she loves him! Took him for a couple LONG walks!
The next few are Esella with Auntie Somer...playing with her light up bracelets. They kept her entertained FOREVER!

Esella had SO much fun that she didn't go to bed until after 11pm!! Yes, I had a CRANKY two year old the next day....but it was worth it. She had so much fun!

And then Wednesday, July 6th my baby girl started PRESCHOOL! She is in a preschool prep class two days a week for 3 hours a day. She has gone two days now and seems to enjoy it. When Justin asked her what she did her first day she replied:

"Play cars. Cried- mommy left".

When I took her this morning for day 2 she said "I no want you to leave me mommy" but she did FINE!! Here are a couple pics from her first day...

Backpack on and ready to go mama!

Looking out the window as we wait...we were a little early

CHEESE! All ready mama!

I am so excited for E to start bringing home artwork and teaching me new songs and listening to her tell me about the books she is read...I have awesome memories of preschool. Looking back it seemed almost magical...the way my imagine took me places while I was there. Hoping Esella's imagination takes her to places only in our dreams...
