What have we been up to the last year??

I seriously cannot believe it has been almost a YEAR since I was on here. Anyway..a quick update on what we have been up to the last 11 months...

I found out I was pregnant in April 2010. The pregnancy was different from Esella's from the beginning. With Esella I was soooo tired but I had no morning sickness. This time, I battled nausea for about three weeks. It then started to fade away and the rest of the pregnancy went great!

When I found out I was pregnant I was still taking classes in the evening to get my certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. I finished the program at the end of June. Now I just need to get my hours in working while using ABA and I can sit for the board exam. However that will be a while since I am not working right now.

Summer of 2010 was great...and we took a family vacation to Maui with Justin's family. It was 10 fantastic days in the sun. Esella and her cousin CJ had fun playing in the pool, ocean, and the sand.

We found out after returning from Maui that the little soccer player in my tummy was a BOY!! We were honestly surprised. After having a girl we just thought we would end up with another. Ha ha.

Fall brought the start of work again. I was still working 2 days a week for a local school district. This year they switched me from my favorite age group, preschool, to an elementary school. I wasn't thrilled at first, but it ended up being a great school. The teachers and staff were welcoming and nice to work with.

I worked up until the week before Thanksgiving break....then I went on maternity leave. It was right around this time that Esella started limping. Just in the mornings here and there. In a few weeks it had gotten worse...and in December she was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (click on the tab above, Esella's Story, to read more about her diagnosis). Between Esella's issues and my pregnancy, we were plagued with doctor's appointments. I didn't really get to enjoy the last month of my pregnancy the way I would have liked to.

Then of course, the baby boy in my belly decided he was more than comfortable in there. I ended being induced and our beautiful baby boy Everett Girouard Hou Yun FINALLY entered this world on January 3rd 2011 at 41 weeks 3 days (10 days late) weighing in at 8lbs 4oz and 20 inches.

At Eight days old Everett joined us at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford to support his big sister as she was put under anesthesia to have a cortisone injection in her little knee to stop the arthritis from damaging her joint.

Life lately has been focusing on fund-raising for the 2011 Arthritis Walk. We have an AMAZING team and in just 3 1/2 weeks we have raised just over $10,000!!!!

It has been a fun and exciting few weeks...with more to come!

Here are a few pics..I'll post soon about Everett's birth with pictures too!
