But I wanna play with it!!

So one thing I had been nervous about when we were planning to have a baby was how our current children (Brinkley, Miss Nippy and Ainsley- our two cats and our dog) would react. I especially wondered how we were going to keep Ainsley from destroying all her toys...since ripping up stuffed animals is one of his favorite pastimes.

How are Esella's fur-siblings adjusting? Pretty well! Miss Nippy and Brinkley enjoy sleeping on the glider and changing table. Brinkley seams a little annoyed that often he cannot sit/sleep with me because a certain pint-sized human is taking up that space. But he enjoys her pacifiers! He thinks they are toys for him and I believe he has hidden at least 4 around the house...

And Ainsley? Well he is a great big brother! He always checks on her and gives her kisses and he quickly figured out her different cries to knows which ones to ignore. Of course each new thing that we bring in the house he thinks is for him...but he eventually (after told at least three or four times) realizes those things are not for him. However...once in a while he find one of her stuffed animals displaced, though not harmed. In fact he has even gotten in her cradle and helped himself to her musical sea horse, only to be found later with it under his chin.

Today was one of those days. Esella has decided that sleeping with Mommy is way cooler than sleeping in her cradle at night. The doctor said this is typical and not to worry...you cannot spoil a new born! However...Mommy wouldn't mind some space now and then. One reason she may like sleeping with me is because she can hear my heartbeat (like she did in the womb). And can you believe it- they actually sell stuffed animals that play heartbeat-like sounds! Today I happened to come across one at Carters and brought it home. It is an adorable little doggy who plays heartbeats, ocean, wind, and rain sounds. It even has a timer and is made to hang over the side of the crib to it will not be a choking hazard. Here he is:

So as usual...Ainsley thought this was for him. He was told several times no...and yet he went ahead and grabbed it out of her cradle a couple times and took it into his kennel. Eventually he got the point and left it alone.

Then a couple hours later, Justin gets up to change Esella and sees this:
Ainsley had quietly retrieved the doggy and took it to his kennel to snuggle! We have a feeling we will be dealing with this stuffed animal-envy for years to come! :) But we wouldn't have it any other way.
